  EARTHQUAKE DRILL

What to do during an earthquake?
  1. Introduce duck/ drop, cover and hold
  2. DUCK or DROP on the floor
  3. Take COVER under a sturdy desk, table or other furniture. If that is not possible, seek cover against an interior wall and protect your head and neck with your arms. Avoid danger spots near windows, hanging objects, mirrors or tall furniture.
  4. If you take cover under a sturdy piece of furniture, HOLD on to it and be prepared to move with it. Hold the position until the ground stops shaking and it is safe to move.
  5. Keep calm and don’t panic.

What to do as soon as the shaking stops?

  1. Be alert.
  2. Listen to teacher’s instructions.
  3. Walk out of the classroom in an orderly manner.
  4. While walking along the corridors to the nearest exits of the building, be alert and look for falling debris.
  5. DON’T … Run, DON’T Push, DON’T Talk, DON’T return, and DON’T bring your things.
  6. Quietly but quickly proceed to the designated evacuation area for the class and wait for further instructions from the teacher.
  7. NEVER go back to the building once you are outside. Buildings should be inspected for possible damage after an earthquake. Students should stay in the open area and wait for their parents/ guardians to pick them up.
For the teacher, make sure all students are accounted for once in the designated evacuation area.
